Welcome to our classroom blog! As your child's classroom teacher, my goal is to continuously have communication between home and school. In order to better support your child in their learning, I would like to use this blog as a way to share information about what your child is learning in our classroom.

Fun with 2-D shapes!
We are currently learning about 2-Dimensional shapes and next week exploring 3-Dimensional figures! Students will need different objects that represent 3-D figures such as empty cereal boxes, juice boxes, etc in order to build a structure. It would be appreciative if your child brought in one or more of these objects this week and/or at the beginning of next week. :)

Geckos!
Sadly, we won't be getting our geckos until next Tuesday (February 23rd). In order to make our countdown a bit more exciting, we've decided as a class to post our countdown. We've been learning about telling time and the difference between minutes, seconds, hours, days, etc. :)

Students will be working on activities related to anti-bullying awareness over the next few weeks. In our class we aim to always have a safe learning environment and practice our tribe agreements of mutual respect, participation, listening and appreciations. February 24th is Pink Shirt Day and our class will try to wear pink, purple or white to raise anti-bullying awareness.

It was a pleasure meeting parents and family members during parent/teacher conferences. I hope everyone has a wonderful family day long weekend! Just a friendly reminder that tomorrow is a P.A.Day as conferences will resume in the morning.
Thank you :)

Dear parents,
We will be having a winter concert on February 25, 2016. We will be performing two songs. One of the songs is titled "Winter Fun" and will incorporate the use of body percussion and some ORFF instruments. Feel free to practice the words with your child at home! I have attached the lyrics we learned in class and an audio file.

Winter Fun By Mike Wilson
All right, all right it snowed all night!
The ground is frozen winter white.
Can't wait, can't wait to go outside.
Let's go! Let's go! Let's go!
We're gonna build a snowman, snowman, ten feet tall!
We're gonna build a snowman and have some winter fun.
We're gonna find a big hill big, hill. and sled right down!
We're gonna find a big hill and have some winter fun.
Grab your hat,
coat and boots,
find your scarf,
mittens too.
We'll make a pile of snowballs, snowballs, you better watch out!
We'll make a pile of snowballs and have some winter fun.
We're gonna have hot chocolate, chocolate with big marshmallows!
We're gonna have hot chocolate and have some winter fun.
Grab your hat,
coat and boots,
find your scarf,
mittens too.
All right, all right, it snowed all night!
The ground is frozen winter white.
Can't wait, can't wait to go outside.
Lets go! Lets go! Lets go!
We're gonna build a snowman, snowman, ten feet tall!
We're gonna build a snowman and have some winter fun.
Have some winter fun! Yeah!
